COPY EDITING & PROOFREADING

Clean, clear copy is my specialty. I’m a trained, professional copy editor, but I’m also a writer. I know how much effort goes into crafting a story, so I’m not going to steamroll over your copy with edits. Instead, I’m going to listen to your concerns and work with you to polish the words while retaining your thoughts, ideas, and voice.

Prior to my freelance career, I worked at business-to-business trade publication. I’ve collaborated with a variety of authors, including company presidents, financial analysts, engineers, and architects. I understand how important it is to stick to deadlines and keep the production process running smoothly.

As a freelancer, I have copy edited and proofread technical blog posts, newsletters, and have worked with professional associations, editing and proofreading material for magazines, conference brochures, speaker bios, and copy for apps.

I’m a member of the American Copy Editors Society and the Editorial Freelancers Association and, in addition to my bachelor’s degree in English, I have completed the Poynter/ACES Certificate in Editing.

WRITING

I can write a variety of forms of copy—news items, blogs, marketing materials, and feature-length stories. My portfolio includes company profiles, case studies, and economic forecasts. I’m experienced with technical and business writing, as well as researching topics and interviewing sources.

I’ve also ghostwritten articles and columns. If you have an outline but need to work out the details, I can help. We’ll discuss your vision, and I’ll incorporate those ideas into a first draft. Then, I’ll work with you to refine the draft until you have a finished piece ready for publication.

I spent 10 years working in-house at a trade publication. I’m familiar with the organization needed to keep a project on time and on budget, and I’m capable of working with a variety of authors, editors, designers, and production staff.

I can use this experience to help map out the steps that need to be completed and organize your resources and team to ensure large projects stay on track.
